AV Geeks
Five amigos once thrown together in Hippieville...
Now, we're fighting evil in the desert, on the prairie and in the city.
Sure, we're the glorified AV geeks of local news... but we're much much cooler.

Grand Theft Awsome!!

Yes! Being a sterotypical little Italian man ridding a go cart throwing turtle shells at a oversized ape sounds cool. Buuuuuuut. Driving through Liberty city with an RPG and a bad attitude is better. Trust me. For all of you that enjoy games over the Y-7 rating scale, check out GTA4. Just be sure to tell your employer and loved ones that you'll be marooned with your TV for about 6 weeks.

MORE PORTRAITS

I don't want Dusty to be the only one posting portraits on here. So...since he went out and found a Vegas rocker chick...I decided to go out and find a Eugene hippie chick.

I found this woman on craigslist. She posted an ad in the "creative gigs" section, seeking a photographer, who is looking to pad his portfolio, to take some portraits of her in nature. I emailed her, expecting to never hear back. Well I did hear back, and today we met up at a local park. We walked around, busted off about 80 shots, and went our separate ways. I used the f/1.4 lens quite a bit, and learned, it's real easy to shoot out of focus when shooting at 1.4. Many unusable shots. Eventually I narrowed it down to about 5 shots I really liked, plus 3 or 4 others.

The two posted here are my favorites.

Next up...I found some pregnant lady on craigslist who wants the same deal. We've emailed a few times. I'm taking pictures of her in a couple of weeks. The whole thing feels a bit bizarre, but at least I'm getting some portrait experience...my biggest photography weakness.

Brought to you in WIDE-O-RAMA

We recently remodeled. Got a whole lot of new bigger stuff.....you know to fit all that 16:9 that everyone is talking about.

Bigger Desk - hold all those anchors and reporters

Bigger Green Space - chroma key more than ever

Bigger monitors - keeping an eye on all that traffic and crime

When you are the Big Bad Wolf in town you better act like it.

V-DUBS

I figure I should throw something down since I haven't made a post yet this month.

VW Buses...They, more than anything, capture the heart of Hippieville...other than dirty hippies, patchouli, a dysfunctional city council, no night life in the summer time, teva sandals and socks, rain, clouds, rain and clouds, and...of course...poorly attended street festivals.

Anyway...I try to photograph these buses anytime they pass my way.

I shot this one from my car several months ago...nearly got into a wreck.

I shot this one when I was walking around town drinking with Miss L.D.

And...of course...there's the coolest V-Dub of them all...Kosmic Freedum.

By the way...Happy (early) 4:20, y'all.
Smoke 'em if ya' got 'em.

Extra Cash

I don't know if I told you all yet, but I've been working on a few side projects lately. I never thought by buying a new camera would possibly give me a new career path.

Meet Jami. I has all started with her.

Jami is a freind of mine. She is also a singer/actress trying to make something of herself in the LV. She has agents, managers, stylists, and now a photgrapher. She wanted some headshots and other creative pictures taken. I told her, "I got a new camera, I'll take your pictures". Just like that it all started.
We went out one day, took around 400 photos, and we both came out of it with something amazing. She now has great pictures of herself and a professional photographer. I may have a new career. Becasue Jami is also telling all of her singer freinds about me. They all want headshots. This is all new to me, and I don't know how much to charge. My schedule is getting filled fast and I have no more free time. I also need to buy more gear, which is very expensive.
Let's see where the path leads?

Makin' news, Medford Style

No, this isn't J201. This is what happens when Bubba (Bill Clinton) visits rural Oregon. These two rephoters from the local NBC are trying to get their PD-150 to "make pictures". Yes, that was their technical term, "make pictures"!

Not pictured is the original betacam that the chambers station used... they had to resort to that when the old ikegami wouldn't "make pictures". (I think they forgot to attach the tape deck and battery belt)

...and their truck makes the old 9er look futuristic in comparison. But they have 3 photogs.
